Unique exhibition: Experience Underwater Photographer of the Year at Den Blå Planet

Summer is here, and Den Blå Planet, National Aquarium Denmark, invites guests to an unforgettable experience beneath the surface of the sea. This year, Den Blå Planet is hosting the Underwater Photographer of the Year exhibition, fishing trips, guided tours, and much more.

As something truly special this year, Den Blå Planet has been granted the opportunity to showcase over 40 captivating works from this year’s Underwater Photographer of the Year. This is the only chance to experience the world’s most talented underwater photographers in Scandinavia.

The exhibition provides a unique insight into an inaccessible world beneath the surface of the sea. The carefully selected photos show the beauty, drama, and diversity of the depths of the ocean.

The themes range from exotic fish species to majestic marine animals and breathtaking underwater landscapes.

“We are incredibly delighted to host the Underwater Photographer of the Year exhibition here at Den Blå Planet. The photos take our guests on a visual journey beneath the surface of the sea, connecting us with the magic of the ocean in a very special way,” says Jon Diderichsen, CEO of Den Blå Planet, National Aquarium Denmark

The exhibition runs until September 30, 2023. It is an experience for all ages and appeals to both photography enthusiasts and those who wish to explore the mysteries of the sea.

“We hope that the Underwater Photographer of the Year exhibition will raise awareness about the fragility and significance of the ocean. The purpose is to both fascinate and inspire our visitors to appreciate and protect our world’s oceans,” adds Jon Diderichsen.

In addition to the UPY exhibition, Den Blå Planet offers a summer program filled with fun and educational activities. Guests can enjoy fishing trips in Øresund, with the chance to catch their own fish and learn about the ocean’s ecosystems, at an additional cost.

Children and the young at heart can explore the Water Playground and catch tadpoles in The Wild Pond. From the Floating Bridge, food can be fished for the hammerhead shark, and every evening there’s a quiz in front of The Ocean (aquarium 36). For the curious, guided tours are offered to explore the secrets behind the aquariums.

Den Blå Planet remains open until 9:00 PM every day until August 31. If you purchase your ticket online for the 7:00 PM time slot, it is only 97 DKK. That’s half the regular adult price. The offer is valid only for tickets purchased online, and the price of 97 DKK is a fixed price applicable to both children and adults.
