A tasty life

The barred sorubim lives near the lake bottom and uses its long barbels to taste its surroundings. The barred sorubim uses senses other than sight, because it hunts primarily at night.

Vertical camouflage

During the day, the barred sorubim conceals itself among tall aquatic plants. The large, narrow fish blends in with its surroundings by standing upright between the plant stems.
